This Halloween will certainly be unlike any which have gone before, but that doesn't mean we still can't celebrate safely at home! While the kids might not be able to trick or treat, there are plenty of film selections on Netflix and Disney + to help get everyone in the spooky spirit! So grab your favourite sweets and gather on the couch and enjoy some some of these filmic treats!
Netflix Offerings
On Netflix there is a mixture of classic spooky hits and original films. Original offerings Hubie's Halloween, A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting and All Hallows Eve are accompanied by Halloween favourites The Addam's Family and Addam's Family Values.
Animated Halloween films featured on the site include Corpse Bride, Monster House and last year's Addam's Family remake starring Charlize Theron and Chloë Grace Moretz.
For the adults and older kids...
As well as having family friendly Halloween hits, Netflix also offer a slew of horror films perfect for older kids and adults. Some of the best known horrors on offer include the latest film in the Halloween franchise, The House At The End Of The Street, The Conjuring, Insidious and Hereditary.
As well as films fans can also enjoy popular horror anthologies The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Disney + Selections
Disney + has a dedicated Halloween section of their site packed with family favourite movies like Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Frankenweenie and Edward Scissorhands.
They also have a selection of original franchises like Halloweentown, Decendents and Twitches which provide great family viewing.
Also on offer for younger kids are Halloween themed short films starring a number of beloved Disney Characters like Woody and Buzz Lightyear, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
And resulting from Disney's purchase of 20th Century Fox last year you can also get stuck into every Treehouse of Horror episode of The Simpsons from seasons 2-30.
As can be seen there is an abundance of spooky offerings for the whole family to enjoy this Halloween season! So while it might be vastly different from the festivities we've had before, it doesn't mean that we can make the most of the occasion!
